Ngày nay góc nhìn này gần như chỉ còn tồn tại trong những tựa game indie mà thôi.

Như đã đề cập trong một bài viết khác gần đây, isometric là góc nhìn rất phổ biến trong các tựa game thập niên 90 trở về trước mà nguyên nhân chủ yếu nằm ở việc phần cứng thời đó chưa đủ để thể hiện những hình ảnh 3D chân thực như hiện nay. Nói qua một chút về isometric, đây là hệ thống camera với ba trục X,Y,Z cùng nằm trên mặt phẳng, tạo với nhau một góc nhất định. Thay vì song song với phương ngang và phương thẳng đứng, trục X và Y đều nghiêng so với phương ngang một góc 26,565 độ. Trục Z sẽ nằm ở chính giữa X và Y để tạo nên vẻ lập thể cho các mô hình xuất hiện trong game.
