Ngay khi Apple thu được thành công với 1 sản phẩm nào đó thì cũng rất nhanh chóng, các đối thủ lại tìm cách đem thiết kế sản phẩm đó về làm "của riêng".

Apple là hãng rất thành công trong việc tạo nên các sản phẩm với thiết kế tuyệt vời. Những thiết kế mang tính đột phá từ những nhà thiết kế tài ba như Jony Ive đã đem lại sự khác biệt giữa sản phẩm của Apple và đối thủ. iPhone, iPod, MacBook dường như đã tạo ra những thế hệ thiết bị mới chưa từng có trước đó và tạo ra sức hút vô cùng mạnh mẽ với thiết kế đẹp mặt không chỉ bên ngoài mà ngay cả phần mềm, ứng dụng bên trong. 

Tuy nhiên, một khi thu được thành công với sản phẩm nào thì cũng rất nhanh chóng, thiết kế sản phẩm của Apple thường bị các đối thủ học lóm hoặc thậm chí đánh cắp ngang nhiên để đem về áp dụng cho sản phẩm của họ. Đó là một trong những nguyên nhân chính của những cuộc chiến bằng sáng chế dai dẳng giữa Apple và Samsung, HTC, Google trong thời gian gần đây và chưa có dấu hiệu chấm dứt. 

Có thể nói việc học tập những thành công từ sản phẩm của đối thủ là một điều bình thường không chỉ trong thế giới công nghệ mà tất cả các lĩnh vực khác. Tuy nhiên, nếu như 1 sản phẩm nào đó hoàn toàn không mang tính sáng tạo mà chỉ đơn thuần đi sao chép của người khác thì chúng nhanh chóng bị nhận diện.
