NUC có 2 phiên bản hướng tới người dùng phổ thông và cho doanh nghiệp. Tuy nhiên, với những ai hay "vọc" máy tính thì đây cũng là một lựa chọn không tồi.

Gọi tên sản phẩm với nhiều kì vọng mang theo, NUC - Next Unit of Computing (đơn vị điện toán mới), Intel hy vọng rằng chiếc desktop có kích thước chỉ 10 x 10 cm của họ sẽ được các đối tác phần cứng hưởng ứng và phát triển. NUC có 2 phiên bản, trong đó một phiên bản hướng tới người dùng phổ thông hơn với cổng kết nối HDMI cùng Thunderbolt (màu đỏ), và phiên bản hướng tới người dùng doanh nghiệp với 2 cổng xuất HDMI và Ethernet (màu đen). NUC còn hướng tới những người dùng muốn tự tay build cấu hình, hay còn gọi là dân "vọc" máy tính. 

Cả 2 phiên bản được trang bị chip Core i3 (Ivy Bridge), chipset QS77, 2 khe DDR3 SoDIMM dual-channel, giao diện mSATA và mini-PCIe để kết nối SSD và card WiFi. NUC có 5 cổng USB 2.0 (2 cổng mặt sau, 1 cổng mặt trước, 2 cổng bên trong), và 1 socket cho bộ nguồn ngoài 19V DC.

Sản phẩm nhỏ gọn này sẽ ra mắt tháng 10 với giá khoảng 400 USD.
