Một tựa game cũ kỹ như Mario, qua bàn tay trải chuốt của Depixelizing cũng trở thành đẹp đẽ trong từng đường nét.

Nếu bạn đã từng thưởng thức Super Mario bros trên chiếc TV 3D HD trị giá 85 nghìn USD (tương đương 1,8 tỷ VNĐ), bạn sẽ thấy game xấu đến mức nào so với các sản phẩm ngày nay. Tất nhiên rồi vì đồ họa của Mario ngày ấy chỉ là 8 bit. Giờ đây, chúng ta đã có một thủ thuật máy tính nho nhỏ để thay đổi điều đó, biến Mario trở thành một tựa game “siêu đẹp”, tương đương với các thương hiệu mới mẻ bây giờ. Đây là sản phẩm của 2 nhà nghiên cứu, Johannes Kopf từ Microsoft và Dani Lischinski từ Đại học Hebrew.
 
 
Điều đặc biệt của thuật toán này so với Adobe Illustrator đó là nó được thiết kế và ứng dụng chuyên biệt cho các tựa game 8 bit. Ở độ phân giải thấp, một chiếc máy tính khó lòng nhận ra được đâu là đường cong, đâu là đường gấp khúc. Nhưng thuật toán máy tính này đã có thể giải quyết hoàn toàn vấn đề lâu năm đó.
