GameSpot đưa tin một nhóm modder lớn nhất nhì cộng đồng GTA 5 thế giới đang bắt tay vào phát triển các bản mod trên Switch, Linux và Android. Quá trình này được thực hiện trên các mã nguồn bị rò rỉ của trò chơi vào cuối năm ngoái.
Mã nguồn của GTA 5 bị rò rỉ vào tháng 12 năm 2023, vài tháng sau khi Rockstar bị một vụ hack lớn. Khả năng truy cập mới của mã nguồn khiến các modder có thể xâm nhập sâu hơn vào trò chơi. Những điều khó thực hiện được trước kia giờ đây hoàn toàn có thể làm được.
Về cơ bản, GTA 5 gốc được phát triển để tương tích với sức mạnh phần cứng của Xbox 360 hay PS3. Đây đều là những máy chơi game đời cũ. So với phần cứng bây giờ, Xbox 360 và PS3 hoàn toàn lép vế. Vì thế, với các thiết bị tân tiến hơn như ở hiện tại, việc chạy được GTA 5 là điều rất bình thường. Với việc mã nguồn mở của trò chơi đã bị rò rỉ, ngày chúng ta thấy GTA 5 được chạy trên các thiết bị Switch, Linux và Android sẽ không còn quá xa.
