Theo nghiên cứu mới của NASA và Cơ quan Khí quyển và Đại dương Quốc gia, lượng nhiệt Trái Đất đang lưu giữ đã tăng gấp đôi kể từ năm 2005, góp phần đẩy nhanh tình trạng ấm lên của các đại dương, không khí và đất đai trên toàn cầu.
