Trải nghiệm thực tế ảo luôn là một điều thú vị đối với những người yêu công nghệ nhưng không phải ai cũng làm quen được với cảm giác đi vào một thế giới ảo. Nhiều người đã gặp những triệu chứng như chóng mặt, buồn nôn, ra nhiều mồ hôi, mất phương hướng sau khi tiếp xức với môi trường thực tế ảo.
Để hạn chế những hậu quả này thì các nhà nghiên cứu của đại học Purdue đã tìm ra phương pháp cho vấn đề này: người sử dụng những công cụ thực tế ảo sẽ có một cái mũi ảo (nghĩa đen) mỗi khi họ bước vào môi trường lạ lẫm này để giúp họ có khả năng nhận biết phương hướng cũng như không bị mất thăng bằng.
Giáo sư David Whittinghill, chuyên viên tại khoa Công nghệ đồ họa máy tính trường đại học Purdue, cho biết quá trình nghiên cứu việc ứng dụng một chiếc mũi ảo đã cho kết quả tích cực khi số lượng người mắc các triệu chứng phía trên đã giảm 13.5% sau khi trải qua 2 ứng dụng thực tế ảo là biệt thự Tuscan và tàu lượn siêu tốc. Đây là một tín hiệu đáng mừng dành cho đội ngũ nghiên cứu.
Dự án của trường Purdue đang nhận được nhiều sự quan tâm từ phía những hãng phát triển thực thế ảo, đây có thể là một phương pháp hiệu quả giúp cho những người trải nghiệm VR cảm thấy thoải mái hơn trong tương lai.
