Hiện nay trên khắp các diễn đàn Overwatch trên toàn thế giới cũng như Việt Nam, từ ngày game ra mắt đã có rất nhiều game thủ cùng chung một thắc mắc rằng tại sao mặc dù trong trận đấu, họ chơi rất hay, gánh team, hạ gục nhiều mà vẫn không được "Play of the Game". Đây chính là câu trả lời.

Như bạn đọc đã biết, khi xem các chương trình thể thao được truyền hình trực tiếp, đôi khi những hành động trong trận đấu xảy ra nhanh đến nỗi chúng ta có thể dễ dàng bỏ lỡ những khoảnh khắc trong thời điểm quan trọng. Đó là khi highlight ra đời, giúp cho khán giả có thể xem lại những pha hay nhất, đáng chú ý nhất mà họ có thể đã bỏ lỡ.

Trong các tựa game chiến đấu thời gian thực, điều này cũng được áp dụng mà trong tựa game Overwatch gọi là "Play of the Game" (PotG). Mỗi trận đấu trong tựa game này đều kết thúc bằng PotG từ một người duy nhất trong 12 game thủ tham gia. Đôi khi, PotG sẽ thuộc về game thủ có màn hạ gục nhiều nhất trong một thời gian ngắn và đôi khi, một game thủ cứu nguy đồng đội khỏi một skill gây cực kỳ nhiều sát thương từ đối phương cũng được "lên tivi". Vậy, như thế nào mới xứng đáng là Play of the Game?

"Việc tuyển chọn không hề đơn giản. Có một phương cách phức tạp với rất nhiều trường hợp ngoại lệ" - Giám đốc dự án Overwatch Jeff Kaplan cho biết. Tùy thuộc vào vai trò của nhân vật trong game của người chơi - cho dù họ làm tốt việc tấn công game thủ khác hoặc bảo vệ đồng đội, những điểm số sẽ được tính toán ẩn một cách khác nhau. Ngoài ra, Jeff Kaplan còn cho biết số điểm sẽ được chấm nhiều hơn nếu như người chơi thi đấu tốt tại những mục tiêu quan trọng như trong cứ điểm, xe,...

Jeff Kaplan nghĩ rằng, công thức tính toán PotG là hoàn hảo, tuy nhiên vẫn có những sai sót nhưng là rất ít. Ví dụ như trường hợp của Torbjorn trong đoạn video dưới đây:
