Theo Financial Times, các nhà mạng châu Âu đã gấp rút đặt hàng khối lượng lớn nano SIM. Nguyên nhân do thế hệ iPhone tiếp theo sẽ được thiết kế sử dụng khe cắm 4FF nano SIM.

Theo Financial Times, các nhà mạng châu Âu đang gấp rút đặt hàng khối lượng lớn nano-SIM (Sim siêu nhỏ). Nguyên nhân là do thế hệ iPhone tiếp theo sẽ được thiết kế sử dụng khe cắm 4FF nano SIM.
 
 
Nano-SIM có kích cỡ 12,3 x 8,8 x 0,67 mm, nhỏ hơn 40% so với micro SIM (được sử dụng trong một số loại smarrtphone như iPhone 4/4S, Samsung Galaxy S III hay HTC One X).
 
Từ trái qua phải lần lượt là SIM thường, Micro-Sim và Nano-Sim.
 
Trước đây, Motorola, Nokia, RIM, Apple đã từng đề xuất về mẫu thiết kế cho các nano SIM tại Viện Tiêu chuẩn Viễn thông châu Âu (ETSI), và cuối cùng giải pháp của Apple đã được chọn. Tuy nhiên, hiện tại micro SIM vẫn còn được sử dụng rất nhiều, do đó để nano SIM trở thành giải pháp chủ đạo trong tương lai thì phải cần ít nhất một hoặc hai năm nữa.
